Japanese Teahouse with a modern twist
I was commissioned to design a memorial pavilion in the memory of J.B. Smith. It was to be an inspirational place for writers and artist to come and create. It was to be comfortable for a couple and be able to celebrate with over 100 people. I fused the Japanese teahouse structure with the proportions of a Greek temple. Hundreds of people have come to enjoy it and the praises for the experience of staying there keep coming in. The low maintenance choice of materials like steel and Ipe wood, and other architectural details were assisted by Bercy-Chin Studios in Austin, Texas.
